On its seventh year, the CE-Logic National Electronic Conference will convene with more than 100 university and college library directors to focus on the role of library and information specialists in nation building, specifically on the development of Philippine communities.
With the theme “Creating a Legacy Towards Nation Building: Librarians and Information Specialists in Today’s Information Society,” the conference is slated on May 28 and 29, 2015 at the C & E Information and Resource Center in South Triangle, Quezon City.
Compared with previous conferences, this year’s lectures will not only explore new library technologies for convenient planning, management, and maintenance, but will also tackle the roles of library professionals beyond information management. Topics involving media literacy, good governance, and volunteerism are included in the lineup of lectures.
Distinguished personalities who have made exemplary contributions to Philippine society are set to grace the event as resource speakers, including Efren Peñaflorida, 2009 CNN Hero of the Year and one of the founders of the non-government organization Dynamic Teen Company; and Howie Severino, seasoned journalist and documentarist. Representatives from Cengage Learning, Invengo Information Technology Co., Elsevier, Wolters Kluwer, and McGraw-Hill will also join the roster of guest speakers.
The National Electronic Conference is an annual event organized by CE-Logic, Inc. as part of its commitment to providing development programs for professionals in the education sector and modernizing the library and information services in the country. It aims to provide librarians nationwide with a venue for discussion of the current issues and challenges in librarianship.
