Librarians forge bond at 5th CE-Logic conference

Close to 200 librarians all over the country attended the annual CE-Logic conference at the Chateau Royale in Batangas from May 23 to 24. CE-Logic is the extended arm of C&E Publishing, Inc. that distributes electronic reading materials for academic use.

Now on its fifth year, the conference held the theme “Linked: Living together through technology,” fostering camaraderie with and building a network of librarians.

The two-day event was opened by CE-Logic President Maximo Gomez who gave his warm regards to the participants. After which the guests and organizers were treated to a cultural presentation.

Speakers Masaki Morisawa gave a talk on “Seeking for a Happy Medium: Consortia Models and Online Solutions”; Dr. Felina Young lectured on “Organizational Development in this Age of Technology”; and Fe Angela Versoza discussed “Social Networking and its Impact on Libraries.” Professional consultant Lulu Moguel, meanwhile, delivered an inspirational talk titled “Personal Brand Transformation.”

Part of the activities was Sharon Esposo-Betan’s launch of her new book “Greening the Libraries.” Esposo-Betan is a librarian and information specialist at the College of Engineering Library at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

For the fellowship night, the librarians got together with the Solution Specialists of CE-Logic to showcase their skills in a segment called “Librarian’s Got Talent” patterned after the hit talent show.

On the last day, the participants enjoyed a little sunshine in a mini Olympics held as part of the event’s team building program.
